To keep the IWARD solution inexpensive the basic robot is only equipped with hardware used for Human-Robot-Interaction. This hardware enables the robot to do basic communication and monitoring tasks.
Devices needed for other applications like cleaning, transportation and surveillance can be expensive whereas used only for a few well-defined tasks. By using a plug-and-play system the IWARD swarm can be easily adapted to the required tasks.
